We are currently in search for an Aerial Silks teacher to join our community. We will be accepting applications through April 14. Qualified candidates will be invited to an in person audition interview on April 23 at between 10:30am - 12:30pm. Candidate that is offered the position will be asked to go through up to an 8-week apprenticeship training program with our lead Aerial Silks Teacher, Jessica, prior to being eligible to teach for Elevate.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Because we are a yoga studio first our aerial silks class are structured with yoga class elements incorporated. All of our aerial silks classes are 60-minutes and begin with grounding and a mat yoga based warm up, followed by strength and conditioning using the aerial silks. Class then moves into a workshop style format where specific skills and sequencing will be learned. Each class ends with savasana.
We offer 3 different class styles, each accommodating different skill levels:
Aerial Silks Foundations: This class covers all of the basics a student needs to know in order to safely and effectively navigate our aerial silks classes. Skills explored in this class include: single foot lock, double foot lock, and climbing.
Aerial Silks: This class is our all levels style class that students will graduate from foundations and move into. It will explore sequencing and skills using: single and double foot lock shapes, belay, crochet hang, hip key, knee tangle, and catcher’s wrap.
Aerial Silks Elevated: After students have mastered the skills explored in our aerial silks class, they will be invited to attend our elevated class. This class is reserved for seasoned and experienced aerial silks students as advanced sequencing and skills will be explored.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Candidates with YTT certifications and additional fitness, training or movement certifications / training / background will be prioritized. In addition to the below qualifications / requirements, candidate should also be able to command the room, lead a class from a place of leadership, and ensure all students are engaged and following directions. This is important to ensure the safety and overall experience of all students is prioritized.
Qualifications
A strong yoga understanding and background including yoga based vocabulary / terminology
The ability to teach using a yoga class structure and deliver an overall cohesive / quality lesson plan
A thorough understanding of strength, conditioning and flexibility
The ability to apply strength, conditioning and flexibility techniques using the silks
Experience in rigging and spotting students to ensure safety
Be able to execute instruction using proper form and technique
The ability to deliver safety cues and modifications as required
A positive attitude, professionalism and leadership
Requirements — Proficiency in teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced aerial silks skills for a 15-foot ceiling such as the following:
Single and double foot lock shapes and sequencing
Belay skill(s)
Crochet hang skill(s)
Hip key skill(s)
Knee tangle skill(s)
Catcher’s wrap skill(s)

AUDITIONS
Date / Times: Sunday, April 23 | 10:30am - 12:30pm
Qualified candidates will be invited to an audition class and assigned a time to audition. You will be asked attend a time slot before or after yours and act as a student for the other candidates’ auditions. For your audition, come prepared teach a mock class to last no more than 30-minutes. Class should include the following elements:

Demonstrate proper form / technique, provide appropriate modifications, and incorporate safety cues. Cool Down / Savasana | 5-min | Include a cooldown including appropriate low-impact movements and static stretching on the mat. Demonstrate proper form / technique, provide appropriate modifications, and incorporate safety cues. End with a short savasana. |
